I’ve definitely bought into the Coastal way of life since moving to Florida. The Coastal vibe, the Coastal style, the Coastal colors, to name a few. Things can seem just a little more enjoyable on the Coast. That includes the Smashburger. Put the Coast and the Smash together and you’ve got the Coastal Smash.
Owner Del DeSart brought the Oklahoma Smash to the Coast. The Oregon Coast to be exact. That was his first food truck. A few years ago, Jeremy, a friend of Del, spent a few days vacationing with Del and his family up in Oregon. Del said he wanted to move to Florida and open another food truck. Jeremy said he’d love to help out. Well, Del and his family moved to Florida, opened up another food truck, and hired Jeremy back in February. You could say they are making Smashburgers, Coast to Coast.
The smashburger menu is extensive. You will have a hard time deciding, trust me. Jeremy says the two most popular smashburgers are the Oklahoma Smash and the CHEESY Double.
The Oklahoma Smash is exactly what you would expect and what you would want it to be. It’s wonderful and satisfying.
It comes as a double patty. They are 3oz. patties, and when that happens, you might want to add an extra patty. Guilty! The patties are an 80/20 ratio and always fresh. They are smashed thin and extend outside the bun. The patties are seasoned well and are as juicy as that thin of a patty can get. Thin sliced onions are smashed into the patty. I thought it was a little light on the onions my first visit. I asked Jeremy to give me a few more my second visit. He delivered. To finish off the patties, they get a little swipe of mustard after they are smashed and then they get flipped and American cheese gets melted on top. Thin sliced pickles line the bottom bun along with some delicious special sauce. It has a hint of mustard flavor. The sauce is a blend of mayo, ketchup, mustard, dill relish and a few other secret ingredients. The brioche bun is lightly toasted and just works. This is a great burger!
