I’m taking a break from the all mighty Smashburger this post.  Actually, my day plan was to hit a Smashburger place, but I had to pivot last minute and ended up in a very popular South Tampa bar/restaurant that exceeded my expectations.

I’ve been following this place for a long time and drooling over a lot of their monthly burger specials, including their most popular burger, The Cheesy Bob, which happens to be on special every Monday for $7.77 with fries.  You might be familiar with the picture on their page of this burger that has double patties with a big slice of a tomato, raw onion and lettuce in between those two patties, but since burger mods are no problem here, I opted out of the LTO and struck gold with grilled onions and chipotle mayo.

The patties are a little thicker than your typical smashed patties, sitting at 5oz. and they are doubles, so plenty of beef.  The 80/20 Angus beef gets a crust off the grill, the patties were temped a beautiful medium, seasoned well and juicy.  It’s called The Cheesy Bob and there is plenty of American cheese to love.  Those grilled onions were diced into thick chunks and were fantastic.  The chipotle mayo gave it a little smokey taste.  The brioche bun is lightly toasted and airy.  I’m very happy I got diverted to this Westshore hot spot.  This burger is fantastic and another nice thicker patty option for you.

They have a burger of the month you might want to keep an eye on.  They have daily specials run each week that are the same, as well as random specials that the Chefs come up with throughout the week and weekends.  The menu is large and tantalizing.  The chicken wings are very good.  Other favorite items are the Pastrami Reuben, steamed shrimp & chicken kabobs.  There are plenty of tv’s for your sports action.  The bar is part inside and part outside by the patio.  There is more seating than you think.  They are open until 3:00am to satisfy any late night needs or cravings you might have.  This is Dead Bob’s second location, explaining the Dead Bob’s Too.
