Who doesn’t love a good gas station cheeseburger?  It’s actually a cool gas station themed restaurant. This time I didn’t do a BYOB.  I got Full Service on this one.

One cool thing about the burger menu is that you can get most of their burger patties cooked diner style on a flattop or chargrilled backyard style.  When I see a double cheeseburger seared on a flattop, my octane level hits high.

The double patties are 1/4 pound, grass fed beef.  I was totally caught off guard when my server asked me how I wanted them cooked.  Usually, at a 1/4 pound or less they don’t ask.  I said as much pink as possible.  They came out perfectly pink.  The beef was SO tender, almost falling apart.  It was juicy and seasoned beautifully.  I was very impressed.

Normally, the Joe’s Double Cruiser comes with LTO.  I wasn’t feeling it so I asked my server, Clara, if I could scrap the lettuce, tomato & onion and get grilled onions and pickles.  Yes, I know, kind of like a BYOB, but not really.  The grilled onions were money.  They were sliced thicker and a little shorter.  Wonderful.  The White American cheese blanketed the patties perfectly.  Thin sliced pickles hit the mark.

I noticed in the menu description of this burger, there wasn’t any sauce on it.  I love some tasty sauce on my double cheeseburger, so I scoured the menu, like I always do, and found that they put their Thai chili aioli on a lot of things.  Sounded good to me, so I asked for that on my burger.  It was lights out fantastic!  Another win for me.  The house-made bun was beautiful.  Soft and lightly toasted.  My taste buds were jumpin’ and my tank was full after crushing this hot rod.

This just might be the best burger in St. Augustine.

They are known for their jalapeño popper burger, which was featured in the Food Network.
