I’m still a little surprised when someone pulls out a restaurant name that I’ve never heard of and they are supposed to have a killer burger. That’s one of the good things social media has to offer, but I still had to try it. Tried it I did and liked it I did!

Psomi (the P is silent) is Greek for Bread. Chef & Owner, Christina Theofilos gives us amazing Greek + American cuisine, created and served with love and a feeling of being home. This place was alive and bustling during my visits. Psomi is a full blown scratch bakery and kitchen.
You don’t come across many house baked burger buns and even fewer really good ones, but this heavily sesame seeded, brioche, white bread bun, is soft, light, airy and simply exceptional. It has a great hand feel to it. If you do enjoy it in your car, you’ll need to hit a car wash on your way home to vacuum up the sesame seeds scattered all over.
You could put anything between this bun and it would be great, but let’s get to the goods. Chef Christina is a smashburger fan, she likes it extra smashed and loves those crispy edges. That means the two patties of this 100% grass-fed, 80/20 blend, are smashed thin. The beef has a soft, melt in your mouth feel, they are seasoned fine and are as juicy as a patty smashed that thin can get. It’s right on the thinness edge for me. It’s got those crispy edges Chef likes. After the initial smash, flavorful caramelized onions are placed on top of the patty, then get pressed into it and get grilled under it after the flip. Plenty of American cheese is melted on the patties.
If you are like me and you lift up the top bun to see what’s under the hood, you’ll find a few diced raw onions. Those aren’t straight raw onions added, those are part of their burger sauce. The Psomi burger sauce has diced sweet onions, diced pickles, house mayo, house ketchup, house mustard and their house seasoning. It gets swiped on the top and bottom buns. It’s delicious! The Smash Burger is one of the biggest hits on the menu and once you experience it, you’ll see why. It’s a fantastic burger!
A couple of Chef’s favorite items are the keftedes & the Green dip sandwich. The house cut fries are fantastic!
If you were wondering why I didn’t go with a triple patty after I said the thinness is right on the edge, the reason is it is $10 to add another patty. Usually, price doesn’t matter to me, but I think that is a little crazy. If it’s ever dropped to $5 for an extra patty, I’ll go back and see how different it makes the experience.
