If you are looking to spend the day or part of the day on one of the beautiful beaches from Clearwater Beach down to St. Pete Beach, you can find a number of good restaurants along the way. I’m recommending hitting a beach early and stopping for lunch or a late lunch at a cool sports bar for a great smashburger and a cold beer.

Sharky’s popped up on my feed one day and caught my eye with a couple videos of smashburgers being cooked on the grill. I like videos of burgers being smashed. They can be very persuasive. Sharky’s is located in a strip mall in what looks like a small bar/restaurant in the pictures I found, but it’s much bigger than it looks and is spread out over a large part of the strip mall. Lots of TV’s, lots of tables, lots of beers and lots of really good elevated bar food.
That includes a fantastic Smash Burger I’ll describe as melts in your mouth delicious! It’s their most popular burger. I’ll start with the bun this time. It’s brioche and it’s baked in house. It’s soft and toasted and feels so good in your hand. Inside this wonderful bun are two 3 oz. patties that are a 70/20/10 blend of chuck, short rib and brisket. They are as juicy as a 3 oz. patty can get, seasoned very nicely with salt and white pepper and fried in beef tallow for a little extra flavor. They melt American cheese on each patty. Thin sliced house pickles line the bottom bun along with a nice squeeze of their delicious Sharky’s burger sauce. It comes with thin sliced red onions and dressed lettuce. I opted for caramelized onions instead of the red onions and the lettuce. I’ll try it straight up next time.
This Smash Burger is damn good! Get it on your list whenever you can.
There are a couple of other burgers on the menu that sound just as good. The garlic parmesan wings were solid and I loved the fried mozzarella, which has a crunchy breading and a great cheese pull.
