What started out as me being blown away by an Ice Cream place, strangely turned into what could be a successful burger story.

I had stopped into an ice cream shoppe that was getting great reviews called Ice Screamin a year ago.Β They had a donut ice cream sandwich that was incredible.Β I did a quick story about it and ended up talking with owner, Kamel.Β He told me he loved Smashburgers.Β I told him about a small ice cream shoppe in Minnesota that started doing Smashburgers just outside their back door and it became a huge hit and has led to a few more locations.Β I was thinking if he did add a Smashburger to his menu, he would get a blackstone and kick out a limited number of burgers a day or something like that.Β Little did I know he is now part owner of a New Jersey based Smashburger franchise and itβs located a few doors down from his Ice Cream shoppe.Β Go figure.
Iβve stopped in a couple of times and had the Double and the Triple.Β The halal beef patties are 3oz., which is what has become the norm for the thin, thin smashed Smashburger.Β The patties were seasoned well, had a good char and were as juicy as you could expect for this thin smash.
American cheese is the choice and covers the patties nicely.Β You get thin sliced pickles.Β They put their own spin on the Oklahoma style onion Smashburger.Β They smash diced onions into the beef instead of thinly sliced onions.Β Didnβt mind it at all, just wanted a few more.Β I saw you could add caramelized onions and I came back a second time and added them on the Triple.Β Delicious.Β Thereβs a nice amount of Slap sauce on the burger, which is fantastic.Β The bun is the ever popular Martin’s Potato Roll.Β One thing they do a little different is basically just fold open the bun and slide the patties on it without taking the top bun off.Β Also, they donβt toast the inside of the bun, just the top of the bun.Β I guess thatβs their thing.Β I prefer to feel the soft top of the bun and have the inside toasted.Β No worries.Β Go with the Triple!
This is a very good Smashburger.Β It does Slap!
