This is officially the longest time frame it has taken me from first visiting a restaurant to posting about it.  I try to get as much information as I can from the owners or Chefs, etc., so you don’t have to, but sometimes it takes a while.  I could have said, screw it, but I didn’t want to give up on this burger.

I stopped in at their official soft opening just over a year ago.  I got The Double to go.  It was in a foil wrapper and things inside were pretty flat.  The bun was a little too toasted, but the beef was juicy.  I was encouraged.  I went back a couple weeks later to try a different burger, but a sign said that they were closed and to be patient.  I tried to find out what I could, but I couldn’t get a response.  I put it on the back burger and went back 4 months later.  They were back open and I met the owner, Mike.  This time I got The Full House and everything about it was fantastic.  I told Mike I’d contact him soon to get some information.  I couldn’t get any response.  Then I found out he goes over to Europe every year.  I finally met Mike at the restaurant and we had a great conversation and I had yet another fantastic Full House smashburger.

It’s a beast of a double smashburger, each angus beef patty coming in at 1/3 pound.  Mike likes the patties being a couple more ounces than a traditional smash patty.  He thinks that allows for a little more juiciness.  He’s not wrong, they are plenty juicy, seasoned good enough and they do get a nice char on them.  American cheese is the choice again.  Thicker chopped sautéed onions, I love.  Plenty of delicious Yummy House Sauce.  I added thin sliced pickles.  The buttered brioche bun is wonderful.  This burger has all of the classic smashburger ingredients, and the finished product is worth your time and money.  I’ve had this burger many times and it has been very enjoyable every time.

Mike has owned the @smashbunburger location for a few years.  First it was a bakery, then a pizza place and now a burger joint.  He also owns @harvestbowl next door with his daughter, Athar.
