If you live in the Tampa Bay Area, you have probably been to or at least heard of Armature Works.  An old Tampa streetcar warehouse, beautifully restored to keep the industrial appeal, but now predominantly offering modern, diverse, culinary experiences.  This place is an anchor restaurant, featuring open flame steak and chop cooking and a great place to add to your Armature Works hit list.

I’ve had a pretty good mini-run of good, thick pattied burgers lately.  I guess if you look hard enough, they are out there.

The Steelbach Burger is a hefty 8oz. premium, grass fed beef patty.  It was temped beautifully and was definitely juicy.  It was seasoned almost enough.  Lots of melted, nutty, sweet Gruyère cheese on top.  I love Gruyère cheese.  They call it onion jam, but you’ll get the caramelized onions vibe.  They have a little sweet flavor to them.  Some bib lettuce on the bottom with a tomato slice and a few thin sliced house-made pickles.  There is a little tangy dijonnaise on it and it has good flavor, but I wanted a bit more.  A nice soft, toasted, sesame seed bun does the job for me.

I love Armature Works and Steelbach.  The architecture is so unique and eye catching.

If you are looking for that satisfying thick pattied burger, this is one to check out.

Note:  The Steelbach Burger is only available on the Lunch menu, not on the Dinner or the Brunch menus.  I just can’t get there for lunch during the week.  Buzzkill.  We ended up going for Brunch and they were nice enough to make it for me.

If you want to work off that burger or steak afterwards, get some steps walking the Tampa Riverwalk.  See how far you get.
