This trip we are back in Dunedin, one of our favorite places to hang out.ย The walkable downtown has restaurants, shops and endless breweries.
I must say, one thing my blog doesnโt have much of is controversy.ย Thatโs changed with this burger experience.

Order a sandwich at the outdoor counter and enjoy everything in the nice outdoor space.
The menu is small, which I like, but it was tough choosing from The Sandwiches menu, which includes The Bear, The Philly and Cluck Around Nโ Find Out.ย As you might have guessed, I went with The Smashington, which is their smashburger.
Here is where the possible controversy lies.ย I have to point this out to the smashburger purists that this is not technically a smashburger.ย The beef is not smashed on the grill.ย The beef is pre-flattened or pre-smashed before it goes on the grill.ย I know, is this really a big deal?ย To some it does matter.ย I love a good burger no matter how itโs cooked and this is a good burger.
The two beef patties are Angus, 1/4 pound-ish.ย It did get a good sear.ย Salt is the seasoning.ย My choice too, but I wanted more.ย Juiciness?ย Wanted a little more.ย Cheese?ย Beautifully melted Cooper Sharp White American.ย Perfect!ย Onions?ย Sliced normal size and grilled.ย I liked the onions a lot.ย They are added under the cheese on one of the patties, would like them on both patties.ย I loved their house made pickles and their Smash Sauce, which is their take on Big Mac sauce.ย I also loved the soft, nicely toasted Cusano’s brioche bun.
This burger has a nice soft feel to it.ย It just feels warm and comfortable in your hand.
One more thing I need to mention, and you might have noticed in the pics and videos, is that the patties and the toppings are upside down.ย Gasp!ย Maybe they want to be unique?ย Maybe itโs a ploy to get me back to see if my next one is upright?ย I donโt know.
