What do you do on a warm, sunny Tampa day?  The Tampa Riverwalk is a great place to experience the heart of Tampa.  Visit a park, ride a water taxi, kayak or stop and have a killer meal at one of the many restaurants along the 2.6 mile walk.  Add @uleletampa to your list of stops.

Not only a great stop on the Riverwalk, but check them out before a show at The Straz Center.  Ulele focuses on local ingredients and palate pleasing flavors.  The Ulele Burger is a great example.  This is not the typical smashburger I’ve been reviewing lately.  I was impressed by the quality and tenderness of the beef, and the mix of flavors were wonderful.

The Ulele Burger, like so many of the menu items, is grilled on their 10’ barbacoa grill.  The 8oz. grind of brisket, short rib & chuck, is fire kissed, super tender, juicy and perfectly temped.  Burgers start with beef and it’s a great start.  Wisconsin sharp cheddar cheese will satisfy.  I absolutely loved how the portobello mushrooms and the fire-roasted red peppers were cooked.  So much flavor.  I’ll take a side of these anytime.  Are there any onions?  Nope.  How about some crispy, fried leeks?  You can see these thin, wispy, tasty little bites on top, falling off for you to enjoy.  Keep a few on your burger and snack on the rest.  As great as the beef was and the mushrooms and peppers were, what blew me away was the “what the heck is that” flavor of their house steak sauce.  It was amazing!  I’ll take a side of that and dip anything and everything in it.

I would have liked the toasted brioche bun to be a little softer, but every other aspect of this burger took my mind away from that.  This is a fantasticly flavorful burger.
