I’ve mentioned it before, but while you’re out cruising around, keep your head on a swivel, as you never know when you’ll drive past a food truck on the side of the road.  This happened to me in St. Augustine.  I was heading back to my hotel after having a burger and I looked over and saw 4 or 5 food trucks hanging out.  I pulled up google maps and found out what they were and to my good fortune, one specializes in burgers.  They are located in the food truck park called Marina Munch on the English Landing Marina.

Not only does Uptown Scratch Kitchen have an extensive burger lineup on their menu, they were voted best food truck in St. Augustine a couple of years ago.  What was I feeling like for a burger?  Their most popular, the Colorado Burger.  All of their burgers are hand pattied, grass-fed beef of the thicker 1/2 pound variety.  It was temped to a nice medium, very juicy and seasoned enough.  Topped with melted aged white cheddar and nicely cooked and flavorful applewood bacon.  They do their onions a little different.  Onion confit.  These are not caramelized onions.  I’d say they are definitely more on the pickled red onion, cool side.  They had a really nice flavor to them.  They were plentiful.  A fresh, sliced tomato and some chopped lettuce sit underneath the patty.  I did have them add a little of their house aioli for a little more flavor.  The bun was pillowy soft, but not toasted.  No problem.

I enjoyed the juiciness of this burger and the nicely cooked bacon.  I see why it’s the most popular burger on the menu.
